October 21, 2020

PassportUSA is honored to have employed Kara Leah, a registered nurse, who has now reached the end of her temp-to-perm assignment.Kara Leah has achieved many of her top life goals such as purchasing a forever home, buying a brand new car, and exploring the beauty of the United States with her family. She is also proud to be actively involved in her community. In her free time, she likes to volunteer at her children's school and at their local church. Kara Leah says she is very fortunate to lead a balanced work-life with her family and they look forward to creating more memorable experiences together.

Being given the chance to live and work in the U.S. has provided a brighter future for my family. My daughters are in one of the best schools in the state and they are excelling in their studies. The opportunities that are available to them are limitless and the ability for us to travel and discover new adventures is never-ending. These were dreams that I had and I thought they would never come true but now it's our reality." -Kara Leah

A Top Performer

While on assignment, Kara Leah surpassed her performance evaluations and was promoted to a Charge Nurse! She even won the PassportUSA August 2019 Employee of the Month contest for her enduring work ethic! Congratulations Kara Leah!In her final performance review, the facility's Clinical Supervisor commented:

"Kara has become a integral member of the night shift team. She is engaged in her unit's success, and genuinely cares about her patients and her peers. She is involved in unit based committees and initiatives. She is professional in her interactions and takes feedback well from leadership. I will need Kara's calm demeanor and support for her fellow night shift staff members. We have remained very busy this year. True leaders emerge from tough times. I want to challenge her to continue to be a leader on the unit by maintaining a positive environment, discouraging negativity, and promoting teamwork between shifts and between job classes. Kara is well-liked and respected by her peers on both shifts. She is kind and caring. She is a welcomed addition to our team!"

Reflecting on Her Journey

"I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Ruben, Jamie, and Katie for all the hard work you do, and for making all this possible. I would also like to mention the Health Carousel team in the Philippines, Liza, Kim, Mark, Neri, and Connie for guiding the way for me and my family in our move to the U.S.During my first year with the client, I was approached by my nurse manager to participate in an interview with Reuters on the U.S. nursing shortage. It was an honor to represent the nursing community and at the same time be at the forefront of the biggest issue affecting U.S. hospitals. My Health Carousel contract has ended but the opportunities continue to come. With hard work comes good things, and we are blessed to have acquired a permanent home and a brand new vehicle.Four months before my contract ended, I was offered to be a Charge Nurse of our unit. It was a privilege to be considered for the position because this opportunity is hard to come by. To be trusted by your colleagues, and be recognized for the hard work and determination you give, is a reward in itself. To be asked by management to stay and work in this hospital after my contract has been humbling. It's proof that my performance in the last three years has been exceptional. Thank you to my nurse manager for recognizing that I'm a team player, a mentor for new nurses, and for inviting me to be part of the Shared Governance committee of the unit."
