January 24, 2020

Each month, the PassportUSA International Employee Supervisor Team selects one or two spectacular A-players on assignment to showcase their journey. We asked our healthcare professional to share his or her story of perseverance, adjustment, and professional growth.Victoria is from the Philippines and is currently working at a client facility in Indiana. She has been working in her field for 13 years and has been with PassportUSA for over one year. Why did you decide to become a registered nurse? "I decided to become a nurse because there are a lot of great job opportunities for nurses abroad."Before coming to the U.S., where did you practice your profession? "I have worked as a RN in the Philippines, at a technologically advanced hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and as a NICU and PICU RN at a hospital in Dublin, Ireland."Why did you want to come to the U.S.? "I have always dreamed of become a nurse in the U.S. because it's the ultimate destination for nurses. I also heard from my relatives that the opportunities for nurses in the U.S. are unlimited! I can work in any specialty of nursing of my choice if I pursue it."How did you first hear of PassportUSA?"I first heard of PassportUSA from my colleague back when I was working in Abu Dhabi. I told her that I already had NCLEX and a valid VisaScreen and she told me about PassportUSA."How is your experience working with your PassportUSA International Employee Supervisor so far? "My IES Angela really helped my family during our transition in the U.S. I remember when she met us at the airport when we first arrived and let us rest at our hotel before we went to the bank and social security office. Today, she still answers all of my queries and I know that I can always count on her."Would you recommend PassportUSA to other people and why?"Yes! I recommend PassportUSA to other healthcare professionals because they have different programs offered for those who wish to fulfill their American Dream. They have been in business for over 15 years and they know how to support nurses migrating to the U.S."How does working in the U.S. differ from your healthcare career abroad? "Working in the U.S. is different from my last RN job because I'm now working with adult patients. My nursing skill has been diversified because of the training I receive in this facility."How have you grown professionally? "I have become a more competent and compassionate nurse, thanks to my international clinical experiences."How has your life and your family's life changed for the better? "Our decision to move to the U.S. gave us better work opportunities, better living conditions, and most importantly I have more leisure time to spend with my family."What is your favorite quote? "Dream it. Believe it. Build it."
