The Best Decision for My Family - Anna Suzane

August 21, 2020

Each month, the PassportUSA International Employee Supervisor Team selects one or two spectacular A-players on assignment to showcase their journey. We asked our healthcare professional to share his or her story of perseverance, adjustment and professional growth.Anna Suzane is from the Philippines and is currently working at a client facility in Nebraska. She has been working in her field for 11 years and has been with PassportUSA for almost 3 years. Why did you decide to become a registered nurse? "What made me pursue my nursing career is the feeling of excitement whenever there is a difficult case to handle and the fulfillment I experience when patients and coworkers send me their gratitude for the nursing services I provided."Before coming to the U.S., where did you practice your profession? "I am proud to have been part of different nursing departments in the Philippines. I learned how to use state-of-the-art equipment to help diagnose and treat digestive and liver diseases and worked with the top gastroenterology doctors in the Philippines. But what I enjoyed the most was my ER rotations. Thinking and acting rapidly to save patients' lives made me love the ER. I found great camaraderie among nurses, doctors, and different medical departments."Why did you want to come to the U.S.? "I wanted to come to the U.S. so my family and I can be together. I wanted to enhance my career and extend my nursing care in the U.S."How did you first hear of Health Carousel - PassportUSA? "I first heard of Health Carousel from one of my colleagues in the Philippines. She applied to Health Carousel and told me that the agency helped her get a nursing job in the U.S. The next thing I know, she told me she was deploying to the U.S. so that got me super interested to sign up with Health Carousel!"How is your experience working with your PassportUSA International Employee Supervisor (IES) so far? "I could not be any happier to be working with my IES! She notifies me about the tasks I need to complete. Whether or not it is work-related, Ashley has been a great help from the very start. She is very patient with me."Would you recommend PassportUSA to other people and why?"I have been recommending PassportUSA to my colleagues in the Philippines and I continue to recommend them to this agency! I've had great experiences with PassportUSA and I know future applicants will also be in good hands with PassportUSA."How does working in the U.S. differ from your healthcare career abroad? "What I've noticed while working in the U.S. is the nurse and patient ratio. It's much lower than what I've experienced in the Philippines so there is more time for patient care and patient rapport."How have you grown professionally? "I learn something new every day. I've been a nurse for over a decade now and learning is an ongoing process. There is always something new to learn such as techniques, procedures, and medical updates. I am very confident as a nurse that every piece of knowledge and skills makes me a better nurse for my patients."How has your life and your family's life changed for the better? "My husband and I are both green card holders now and it would not have happened without the help of PassportUSA! Thank you PassportUSA for being a part of building my family's future in the U.S."[caption id="attachment_355353" align="aligncenter" width="317"]
