It is not considered a public holiday, meaning government offices and businesses still have regular operating hours on this day.

How do we typically celebrate Halloween in the USA?

It is a thrilling time associated with witches, black cats, spirits, jack-o-lanterns, dressing up in costumes, and much more!People celebrate in various scary activities such as visiting haunted houses, watching scary movies, or by telling ghost stories. Others celebrate in less-scary ways such as decorating their residences, visiting pumpkin patches, carving pumpkins, and just having a good time with their friends and family.Trick-or-treating is popular with families on the evening of October 31st. The children commonly dress up in costumes (such as princesses, superheroes, pirates, monsters, etc.) and walk door-to-door in their local neighborhood and say, "trick-or-treat!" and the homeowners give them candy.However, this year's traditions will be celebrated differently all across the country to help limit the spread of COVID-19. But that doesn't mean you can't have fun while staying safe!

• Family and friends should consider the number and rate of COVID-19 cases in their community and in the community where they plan to celebrate when considering whether to host or attend a holiday celebration.
• Indoor gatherings generally pose more risk than outdoor gatherings. Indoor gatherings with poor ventilation pose more risk than those with good ventilation, such as those with open windows or doors.
• Gatherings with attendees who are not adhering to social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart), mask-wearing, hand washing, and other prevention behaviors pose more risk than gatherings with attendees who are engaging in these preventative behaviors.
