Each month, our International Employee Supervisor Team selects one or two spectacular A-players on assignment to showcase their journey. We asked our healthcare professional to share his or her story of perseverance, adjustment, and professional growth.Michelle is from the Philippines and is currently working at a client facility in North Carolina. She has been working in her field for 11 years and has been with PassportUSA for over one year. Why did you decide to become a registered nurse? "I decided to become an RN because it was my father's and grandmother's dream for me. As time went by with my career, I expanded my care from little babies to adults, now to the elderly, and I fell in love with the nature of my job."Before coming to the U.S., where did you practice your profession? "I practiced in multiple hospitals in the Philippines. Then I went to work in a hospital in Saudi Arabia and then back to the Philippines before coming to the U.S."Why did you want to come to the U.S.? "I wanted to come to the U.S. because I wanted to accept the opportunity that Health Carousel has offered to me, which is to bring my family here and to build a better life for us together. I can also reunite with our other family members such as my parents, brother, and other relatives."How did you first hear of PassportUSA? "I saw them on a Facebook page which was posted by one of my friends. Then, I applied online. I was surprised by how fast they replied and interviewed me so that I could pursue my dream to finally migrate to the U.S."How is your experience working with your PassportUSA International Employee Supervisor (IES) so far? "Working with my IES, Jordan, is the best. She is like a sister to me. She is always there to support and never leave my side. I am grateful and lucky to have her."Would you recommend PassportUSA to other people and why? "I would recommend PassportUSA to other people because without them my dream wouldn't have come true! I am able to bring my husband and four children here because of Health Carousel."How does working in the U.S. differ from your healthcare career abroad? "Working as an RN here in the U.S. means having additional opportunities and offers to improve my skills, especially when it comes to seminars and extra shifts. Everyone is appreciative of your hard work and diligence. It's a more positive work environment. As time goes by, I learned how to tend to different people and their individual needs. We need to be aware of our actions and think critically of every situation. Indeed, patience is a virtue and knowledge is power."What is your favorite inspirational quote? "Too often, we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest accomplishment, or a small act of caring. All of which have the potential to turn a life around." -Leo Buscaglia, American author[caption id="attachment_356348" align="alignnone" width="450"]
