Form I-9 is used to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
Employees will complete a form attesting to their employment authorization.
All sections of form I-9 should be completed fully and accurately. If anything is missing or incorrect on the document, the employer will send a request for the employee to make the appropriate corrections.
The employee will also provide supporting documents to the employer from the list of acceptable documents established by the US government.
A list "A" document establishes both identity and employment authorization.
List "B" and "C" documents each establishes separately, with "B" establishing identity and "C" establishing employment authorization.
