National Allied Health Professions Week takes place annually during the first full week of November.
During November 4 – 8, 2019, National Allied Health Professions Week serves as a way to celebrate hard working professionals and honor the valuable contributions they make to patients’ lives and the healthcare system as a whole.
Significance of Allied Health Professions
According to The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, in 1967, the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professionals (ASAHP) was established in response to the need for an association to relate to improving the quality and quantity of needed workforce in health professions.
The term “allied health” was used for setting up the association and led to the passage of the Allied Health Professions Personnel Training Act. The act ratified the concept of unifying all the disciplines that comprise allied health into academic units.
Allied healthcare professionals now make up almost 60% of the entire healthcare workforce. Professions include physical therapists, medical technologists, occupational therapists, and more. Jobs in the industry have increased by 3 million between 2010-2020.
On behalf of PassportUSA – Health Carousel, we want to thank all of our allied healthcare professionals for their dedication to their profession and to our company.
