Josedario’s Opportunistic USRN Career
Josedario joined the PassportUSA Achieve program and has been working as a USRN in Georgia since July 2019. When we spoke with Josedario regarding his experiences, here is what he shared:
How did you hear about the Achieve program?
“I first heard about the program from my friend during our Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training. I received the contact phone number for Health Carousel Philippines.”
What made you decide to join the Achieve program?
“I decided to join because the Achieve program offers IELTS study resources to help me pass the IELTS exam.”
What kind of training did you utilize to pass IELTS?
“I relied on my Health Carousel Philippines advisor, Lenci, to send me links to online resources. I was working in Abu Dhabi, UAE at the time and studied on my own.”
What training did you utilize to pass NCLEX?
“When I studied for NCLEX, I bought some books and completed practice tests online.”
Would you recommend other nurses to sign up for Achieve right away?
“Yes, I referred a lot of my colleagues in Abu Dhabi to Health Carousel.”
How did you feel the response time was for your inquiries regarding the program?
“Health Carousel is very responsive and attentive to emails!”
Do you know anyone else in the program?
“Yes, I know some people who are currently in the program. Some are already working in the U.S., some are waiting in Abu Dhabi, and some are waiting in the Philippines.”
What/who inspired you to pursue your American Dream?
“There are a lot of opportunities here for professional growth. I had a stable job in Abu Dhabi but I desired career advancement and to achieve more personal goals in the U.S.”
What do you hope to accomplish in your U.S. nursing career and personal life within 5 years?
“I want to pursue my Master of Science in Nursing degree. I am a quick learning and open to learning more about nursing. It is my passion and the career direction I wish to take.”
Are there any certifications/units of interest to you?
“I am interested in being certified in med-surg. I am currently working in the med-surg unit and feel that would be beneficial to increase my knowledge.”
What are 3 traits of yours that make you a good U.S. nurse?
“I am confident in my nursing skills. I am always curious to learn new fields of knowledge. I listen well to my preceptors, nurse manager, and patients, so I can provide clear communication to build better relationships with them.”
Who/what motivates you currently to continue being a spectacular U.S. nurse?
“I believe that personally, I am my own motivator. I like to keep a good work ethic and I receive lots of praise and certificates. I am one of the first three contracted international nurses at this facility and based on our performance, they are considering contracting more international nurses for their hospital expansion!”
Who do you want to thank for encouraging you to join the Achieve program and why?
“I want to thank my family and mentors because they are the driving force for me to become successful in my career and to pursue my American dream.”
What advice do you have for candidates that are thinking about joining the program?
“Health Carousel – PassportUSA is very responsive and they will answer all of your questions. I advise others to follow what they ask of you to comply with document deadlines so your visa processing will go smoothly.”
